Eyes can be as expressive as can be. When we find those pair of eyes that stare back at us and melt our hearts, we find happiness. Maybe for long or maybe just for a while. Sometimes, the eyes mislead us. We may know how to read what the eyes show, but there are those that we just couldn't. We look at them and they get us confused. I had this friend from my neighborhood who got confused because of some guy's eyes. At present, she's already a college student. She had set her eyes on someone and found herself sometimes staring at them. Though she knew he was with someone, she found hope in his eyes. She doesn't know why but that was just the way it was. Those eyes sort of told her he was the guy she had been long waiting for. When she looks at them, she sees something special, something significant yet unexplainable. In the end, it only brought her tears. She wonders why he doesn't look at her nor glance her way the way she looks at him secretly. Instead, he found happiness in the eyes of the girl he is with. She saw the truthfulness and deepness of the way he looks at her and it pained her heart. She said to herself that the girl's really lucky to have a guy like him. He's a good catch. So she decided she'd rather not look at those eyes again than see herself bleeding more. It hurt for she can't take his eyes off her even though she said she knew it was a little selfish. She made herself aware of the fact that he's happy and she should move on and look down or everywhere else far from his eyes. After all, that's the best thing to do.
I think that after staring at a few hundred eyes and see those that take you heart away and break it, a person might be able to be afraid to look up to the world and search for another pair of eyes. Maybe sometimes, the eyes really mislead us. By then, we can't be so sure what thoughts linger behind the eyes we always look at. If it gets hard and you have been hurt too much, try your best to walk away. Maybe hard, but not impossible. Take your heart with you and give it to someone worthy of it. Someday, somewhere, you'll find that person who will stand up from the crowd and promise not to break you heart.
