What if you are given a chance to change our past? Will you? Do you want to? If yes, what is in the past that you would want to change? All the bad memories? All the tragedies? But what if when all the bad memories fade away, the good ones go along? What if it's beyond our control to stop a tragedy? Will you still? Or would you rather not? Pains and wounds of yesterday. They are the parts of the past that most of us want to erase or change. Those we want to forget. These things brought so much grief to us but in the end, we become stronger and wiser. We hope not to make the same mistakes again. As we go back and reminisce, we say those two longing words, “If only...”. If only I can repeat the past. If only I have a time machine. If only I haven't let the chance slip away. If only... If only... If only... We have so many if onlys in our life. We wish we can travel through time and correct mistakes. We want to do the past for the second time but as we wake up, we go back to the reality that there is no time machine neither a magic clock to bring us back to yesterday. We realize that yesterday is an experience we should learn from. The mistakes we made should be corrected in the present, and so we learn to move on. We face the world and carry with us both our happy and painful past. We learn to smile each day and think that those we want to change has its time. Even though sometimes, it is hard to move on, it is the only way so we won't be able to make the same mistakes again and in the future, we would want to repeat this time in our life over again where all we did was look back. We would keep wanting to go back tough there's not much we can do. The memories of yesterday will just be memories. Even how much we yearn to change them, we never can. It would only hurt us more in the end. It is not bad to want to change what used to be but also, one must be aware that they are just for looking back, not for doing again. That fact hurts us, but we have to accept it.
If you yourself have tons of if onlys in your life, try to go on with your life and move forward. Assess to yourself that someday, your if onlys would be done. Little by little, you can redo your past through your present or your future. Go on, enjoy and live your purpose. Try to be the person you want to be. Achieve your goals and reach your dreams. Then maybe, God would give you a chance to meet again those you took for granted or those you lost, make up for what you've left behind. It might not really change what have been but they would make a better what would be.
